2024 Can-Am Mini Challenge Race

2024 Can-Am Mini Challenge at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, written by 2022 Can-Am Mini Challenge champion Greg Wold:

2024 is the 65th anniversary of the first Mini production in the UK and this milestone brings another round of the Can Am Mini Challenge to North America. I was excited to hear that the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit along with CVAR and their annual fall vintage event will serve host for the Can Am Mini Challenge. The Hallett Motor Racing Circuit is centrally located allowing greater access to those Mini racers who otherwise would find travel to the event prohibitive. My own personal memories of racing at Hallett were nothing but positive. The track owners, the Stephens Family, knows racing and understand what it takes as track owners to provide a safe and memorable track experience. Their support has translated to a fun track with user friendly facilities.

This track is fun to drive and perfect for a Mini event! This 1.8 mile, 10 turn track has an awesome mixture of elevation change, wide run off areas, technical turns (including turns “The Good” and “The Bad” which is sure to frustrate some drivers and entertain the fans watching at this point) and safe pit entrance and exits. The two times that I raced there were memorable experiences for several reasons. First, the people supporting the race were awesome! They were friendly, welcoming and helpful. They know that the track is a bit of a drive for people, so they appreciated every entrant. Second, the track. Not being a fan of flat tracks, I enjoy any elevation change. While the total elevation change of 80 feet isn’t exactly Laguna Seca, it is enough to add to the track experience. There is a good mixture of technical turns and also turns that allows a Mini to be thrown around and driven like a Mini is fun to drive. Finally, and most important, safety. My memories of the track were that there are plenty of places to pass safely, no Armco barriers staring at you in the corners and as mentioned, plenty of run off room where needed.

We have more than a year to get our cars ready, help our friends get theirs ready, twist arms, encourage and brow beat if necessary to get as many race minis as we can to sign up for this event! Hallett Motor Racing Circuit’s centrally location is also a great gathering place for Mini and MINI car clubs, so get the word out and make this a memorial event!
